Vinton-Shellsburg High School Football Coach Pat Farley has announced his resignation.
Farley told Vinton Today on Friday that he will become the head coach at East Marshall High School.
While also resigning his teaching position for the coming school year, Farley said he would like to retain his job as a summer school teacher this year.
Farley led the Vikings to their first post-season appearance in several years in 2009. At East Marshall, he will take over a program that was winless in 2011.
The V-S school board approved his resignation, along with that of assistant wrestling coach Mikel-Jon Elwick, during Tuesday's board meeting.
AD Jim Struve said the district is currently accepting applicants and expects to choose several for those to interview as finalists for the position.
