Coaches and parents watch as Vikette pitcher Maddie Cornwell signs with Taylor University.

Surrounded by her parents, coaches and teammates, Maddie Cornell agreed to spend the next four years as a student-athlete at Taylor University in Indiana.

Maddie will graduate in May of 2013 and will join her sister, Lexy, at Taylor. Maddie started 19 games for the Vikettes last year, and ended the season with a 13-5 record and a 3.42 ERA.

Dave Cornell said the Maddie and her family choose Taylor because they were looking for a Christian college in the Midwest that had a strong softball program.

Along with Maddie's parents, Dave and Kelly Cornell, and teammates Devon Ankney and Katie Hanson, coaches Emily Grimm, Mindy McClintock and Sherill Hanson watched Maddie sign her official NCAA Letter of Intent on Tuesday at VSHS.
