These annual meetings are offered to address questions that landowners, tenants or other interested individuals have about leasing farmland.The negotiated rate is one aspect of farmland leasing arrangements.

Fareway Stores, Inc. is partnering with Variety - the Children’s Charity to conduct the ninth annual Round Up at the register from June 30 – July 19 at all 143 store locations. Customers will have the opportunity to round up to the next dollar or provide an additional donation on their grocery bill to help fund Variety’s mission. Dollars raised through the Round Up will provide mobility equipment to children living with special needs, as well as fund and deliver effective programs and grants to care for children who are underprivileged, at-risk, critically ill, or living with special needs.

Experts advise checking herds for ticks, parasitesThe Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship has confirmed a case of Theileriosis, caused by Theileria orientalis Ikeda, in a herd of cattle in southeast Iowa for the first time.Theileria is a protozoan parasite that infects red and white blood cells, leading to anemia and, in some cases, death.

Farmers will have an opportunity to see various strip-till bars in action during the Strip-Till Field Day near Crawfordsville on July 30.Iowa continues to see an increasing number of acres of strip-tillage each year. “The goal of this field day is to increase awareness of strip-tillage as a conservation practice to help reduce erosion, improve soil health, protect water quality and complement cover-cropping systems,” said Rebecca Vittetoe, extension field agronomist with Iowa State University.
