Red Cedar Chamber Music will be back in Center Point for a free concert at the Andersen Center Point Public Library on Thursday, Oct. 13, at 7 p.m.

Violinist Miera Kim and cellist Carey Bostian will play new pieces inspired by folk music from around the world. The concert is called "Fresh Folk." One composition, "A Culture of Courage," honors the Ukrainians. Other pieces take listeners to Scotland, the Philippines, and the American West.

The concert, in the cozy fireplace corner at the back of the Library, is sponsored by Friends of the Center Point Library who will provide coffee and homemade cookies, too.

Red Cedar Chamber Music has a Friends group of its own and also receives funding from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Iowa Arts Council. Red Cedar's goal is to bring chamber music into "the nooks and crannies of everyday life."

A Red Cedar Concert goer commented: "This was a treat. I feel sorry for anybody who missed out. This was what chamber music should be-warm and engaging, without pretension…" Another called Red Cedar's music "refreshing to a tired soul."
