Hawkeye Community College announces the Dean's List for the spring 2023 semester. The Dean's List is an official recognition of outstanding academic accomplishment by full-time students. To make the Dean’s List, an individual must be a full-time student and successfully complete 12 or more credits in the fall or spring semesters with a semester GPA of 3.

Clarke University is proud to announce that 220 students earned a spot on the Dean’s List for the Spring 2023 semester. The list recognizes full-time Clarke students who have earned a 3.65 grade-point average or above, on a 4.0 scale, with a minimum of 12 graded hours.  More than 9,800 Iowa State University students have been recognized for outstanding academic achievement by being named to the spring semester Dean’s List. Students named to the Dean’s List must have earned a grade point average of at least 3.50 on a 4.00 scale while carrying a minimum of 12 credit hours of graded course work.  Students listed below are from our area or have been asked to be included on Vinton Today.

The University of Dubuque congratulates the following students on being appointed to the Spring Semester 2023 Academic Dean's List. Full-time students in good academic standing (registered for and having earned 12 or more letter grade credits for the term) who earn a term grade point average of 3.5 or above and who do not have any grades of Incomplete for the term are named to the Dean's List.

The following area students graduated from Allen College. The College awarded 85 degrees during its commencement ceremony on Friday, May 5, 2023.Allen College conferred 10 Associate of Science in Radiography degrees, 6 Bachelor of Health Sciences in Diagnostic Medical Sonography degrees, 10 Bachelor of Sciences in Medical Lab Science degrees, 3 Bachelor of Health Sciences in Public Health, 29 Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degrees, 1 Master of Science in Occupational Therapy degree, 24 Master of Science of Nursing degrees, 1 Doctor of Education degree, and 1 Doctor of Nursing Practice degree.

Nearly 4,600 graduates received degrees from Iowa State University this spring. Graduate and undergraduate commencement ceremonies were held May 11-13 at Hilton Coliseum. Alumna Trudy Huskamp Peterson, the first woman archivist of the United States; and Temple Grandin, Distinguished Professor of animal sciences at Colorado State University, animal welfare pioneer and activist for people with autism, received honorary degrees during the undergraduate ceremonies.

Two area students were recognized as part of Iowa Lakes Community College's Spring 2023 Honors List. The lists recognize students who achieve the highest academic standards earning inclusion on the President's Honor List or Dean's List.Included were:Coleton Usher, President's List, AtkinsAza Swayzer, Dean's List, Vinton For the Spring 2023 semester, 118 students made the President's Honor List, an honor achieved by those who recorded a 4.

Known for singing their own name, the bobwhite quail is an iconic bird in Iowa and the Midwest. When temperatures warm, this brown and white bird makes its presence known by repeating the familiar phrase: bob-WHITE!Although popular, the species is also in decline, mostly because of the continuous loss of habitat.To help Iowans better understand this bird and the environment that it needs to thrive, Iowa State University Extension and Outreach has published a nine-page guide, “Northern Bobwhites in Iowa.

The University of Dubuque recognized and celebrated the academic achievements of undergraduate, graduate, and seminary students during its 171st commencement with two ceremonies on Saturday, April 29, 2023.Local graduates include:Keystone,  Morgan Klopping, Associate of ArtsVinton,  Brock Radeke, Bachelor of Business Administration, Magna Cum Laude The University of Dubuque Spring Commencement was held in the Chlapaty Recreation and Wellness Center.

 McPherson College, a four-year private college located in central Kansas, recognizes its highest academic achievers in its spring 2023 Honor Roll and Honorable Mention. Rebecca Steffen, of Vinton was named to the Honor Roll. Students must be enrolled full-time and earn a grade point average of 3.55 or higher during the last term to qualify for the honor roll.
