I had convinced myself that I was not a fantasy reader, but this year I told myself I need to have an open mind and try new things. I have fully accepted this challenge and have read "Divine Rivals", "Ruthless Vows", and now "A Court of Thorns and Roses." I needed to see what all the fuss and hype was about! Like Rebecca Ross, Sarah J. Mass did not disappoint. Feyre, a human, does everything she can to survive and put food on the table for her family. As she's hunting, she spots a beast-like wolf in the woods and kills it before it can hunt her food. Little did she know, that by killing this wolf, her time with her family would end. She was taken captive by an immortal faerie, Tamlin, as payback for killing one of his own. Feyre contemplates how she can get back home, but is slowly growing feelings for Tamlin. Feyre learns about the faerie world and how evil it can be. Feyre does not want anything to happen to the faeries or the humans and she takes it upon herself to try to save both worlds. Will she be able to stop it.....or be killed for being human?

"A Court of Thorns and Roses" by Sarah J. Maas is book 1 in the series and out of 2,264,334 ratings, Goodreads gives it a 4.20 out of 5. If you aren't a fantasy reader, I challenge you to read this book or "Divine Rivals" by Rebecca Ross and see if it changes your mind. You can check both of these books out at the Vinton Public Library.
