Hickory 5 was sent Herndon Virginia on January 3, which is a wonderful place to stay and serve. There are so many places to go in Herndon because everything is so close. It’s like Herndon is plopped right in the middle of all the fun activities. The first week Hickory 5 arrived in Herndon some of the team drove out to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania and they got to check out the breathtaking battlefields.

Hickory 5 is working in a FEMA warehouse on their current service project. The team is inventorying and prepping the warehouse for potential disasters. Some work in the future for the team is setting up Western Shelter Tents which are used for search and rescue teams to stay in while responding to disasters. Also, Hickory 5 is going to get a tour of the FEMA headquarters in DC in February. The team enjoys working at this warehouse and spending time in Herndon. They will be wrapping up their time in Herndon on March 18 at which time they will return to Vinton to prep for their last service project in NCCC-FEMA Corps.
