By Josh Wiley, Co-ReporterAt 6:00 P.M. on Thursday, April 8th, the Vinton-Shellsburg FFA Chapter will be holding their annual labor auction in the high school gymnasium. Members of the chapter will be voluntarily “auctioned off” to complete 8 hours of work for the highest bidder that purchased them. The buyer may put the member to work in a variety of activities but, common areas of work include babysitting, garden work, working livestock, chores, walking beans, fence building, as well as working at food stands at local county fairs and other events.
Central Lutheran School’s (CLS) Spring Fling will be taking place on Saturday, April 10th beginning at 4:00 p.m. The church is located at 310 3rd St. W. in Newhall. The event is held every two years. All money raised will benefit the school and programs. Due to the Derecho and damages to the school, this will be a particularly important Spring Fling fundraising effort.
The Benton County Historical Society will be holding a Tag Sale at the Ray House located at 912 First Ave. in Vinton. April 17th, from 9:00 a.m. until noon.Miscellaneous items including dishes, glassware, linens, books, and some furniture. Come and look!
I'm not sure who helps the Easter Bunny. Santa has elves, Princesses have fairy Godmothers but the Easter Bunny? The Easter Bunny sought some of the best people in town to help prepare for Saturday's Easter Egg Hunt. The Easter Bunny decided to ask the people with the most experience when it comes to Easter, the folks at Windsor Manor. Volunteers filled about 3,500 Easter Eggs with over 7,000 pieces of candy for the local Kiwanis club.
Brandon United Methodist Church located at 507 Main St., will hold their Annual Pancake Breakfast and Bake Sale on Saturday, April 3rd, 2021 from 7:00-10:30 am.The church will be serving Pancakes, Eggs, Sausage, Ham, Juice and Coffee for a Freewill Donation. Plan to purchase some delicious baked goods for your Easter Celebrations as well!Social distancing and Covid-19 precautions will be in place.
