This year ¢â‚¬â„¢s Center Point Historical Society/Friends of the Library Community Harvest Potluck will feature not only good old home cooking but also America ¢â‚¬â„¢s classic favorite young river rat--Huckleberry Finn.

Kathy Wilson, of Historical Perspectives in Marion, is back to do a free slide show program on Mark Twain ¢â‚¬â„¢s most acclaimed book, ¢â‚¬Å“The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. ¢â‚¬

The program coincides with the American Library Association ¢â‚¬â„¢s 2023 Banned Book Week. The theme this year is ¢â‚¬Å“Let Freedom Read. ¢â‚¬

Huck was published in this country in 1885 and ¢â‚¬Å“banned in Boston ¢â‚¬ about a month after it appeared. The book is considered Twain ¢â‚¬â„¢s greatest literary work and it still regularly appears on 21st century banned book lists.

The Huckleberry Finn program begins at 7 p.m. in the Center Point Library basement community room. Potluck supper is at 6. Table service and drink are provided. Please bring a dish or two to share, invite your neighbors, and renew your old acquaintance with that rascal Huck.
