Come to the Horridge House at 612 1st Avenue, Vinton to learn about

some of the legendary aircraft carriers that helped hold the line in the

Pacific Theater during WW2 and the stories of their crew. Saturday,

May 30 at 10:00.

The presentation will cover the Yorktown class, which contains the lead

ship Yorktown, which fought at the Battle of Coral Sea and Midway. Also,

one of the most beloved ships, the Enterprise, which served for the entirety

of the war. Last, but most certainly not the least, is the Hornet which took

part in the Doolittle Raid, the Battle of Midway and Santa Cruz.

The Yorktown class of ships would be nothing without the brave men who

served on them and helped keep them fighting when it seemed

impossible.

Because of the battles the Yorktown class ships were in, the world would

change and have aircraft carriers to be the rulers of the waves.

This will be approximately a 2-hour presentation by Thomas Jessen.
