A few weeks ago you probably saw notices about the county districts being redrawn as a result of the census. Gary Bierschenk, Nick Volk, and Gina Edler made up the members of the committee to figure out how to fairly divide the county following these results.

The new map will affect the other two Supervisors, Rick Primmer who is currently in the 2nd District, and Tracy Seeman in the 1st District. These two Supervisors will switch districts. Primmer will be running for the new 1st and Seeman the new 2nd. (Supervisors must reside in the Districts where they will run but will finish their term until they are up for election.)

Supervisors run for office every 4 years. Tracy Seeman was elected in 2018 so his term will end in 2022. Both Rick Primmer and Gary Bierschenk will be up for election in 2024.

The new District 1 with a total population of 8,541 only has three townships, Harrison, Polk (Urbana) and Taylor (Vinton).

District 2 runs from the northern edge of the county down to Atkins and Newhall's townships. This district has a population of 8,582. The townships in this district include Bruce, Cedar (Mt. Auburn), Jackson (Garrison), Big Grove, Eden, Benton Canton (Shellsburg), Eldora (Newhall), and Fremont (Atkins).

The 3rd District with 8,452 people in it picked up one township Monroe, and still includes, Homer, Kane (Keystone), Union (VanHorne), Iowa (Belle Plaine), (Luzerne), Leroy (Blairstown), St. Clair, Florence (Norway, Walford). Gary Bierschenk will be able to still run in this District.
