The Benton County Board of Supervisors met in regular session with Supervisors Seeman and Bierschenk present. Supervisor Primmer was absent. The meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. at the conference room at the Benton County Service Center. Members of the public were provided the zoom access capability to join in during open session and livestream at https://www.youtube.com/bentoncountyiowa. Unless otherwise noted, all actions were approved unanimously. The Board started out with the Maintenance department presenting their FY 23 Budget request, along with the Weed Department, Recorder, IT/GIS, Human Resources and the Department of Human Services (DHS) throughout the meeting.

Bierschenk moved/Seeman seconded: To re-appoint Dale Henry to the Veterans Affairs Commission, his term will be up June 30, 2022 and will be good through June 30, 2026. Motion carried.

Bierschenk moved/Seeman seconded: To approve January 3, 2022, January 4, 2022 and January 5, 2022 minutes. Motion carried.

Bierschenk moved/Seeman seconded: To approve 75 vacation hours to carryover for Myron Parizek to have used by June 3, 2022. Motion carried.

Bierschenk moved/Seeman seconded: To approve payroll checks numbered 142117 through 142124, ACH Deposits 47858 through 47999, void check 241172, handwrite 241173 and 241174, vendor checks 241175 through 241181, handwrite 241182 and claims numbered 241183 through 241331. Motion carried.

Bierschenk moved/Seeman seconded: To appoint Luke Hennings, Jeff Ralston, Ann Jorgensen, Becky VanWey and Wes Haefner to the Integrated Roadside Vegetation Management Commission. Motion carried.

Tracy Achenbach, East Central Iowa Housing Trust Fund presented the FY 23 Budget Request. It was a slight increase from last fiscal year. They are requesting $4,489 compared to $3,850 in FY 22. The Board didn't see a problem with this.

Bierschenk moved/Seeman seconded: To appoint Ben Bonar as the Weed Commissioner. Motion carried.

During the weed commissioner's budget discussion, the purchase of a truck loader was discussed but no action taken.

Bonar also inquired on obtaining key card access to the county buildings, the board didn't see that as an issue and would let the IT department know.

Kirsten Nelson presented the Human Resources FY 23 Budget along with updating the board regarding the recent OSHA ruling, and how it would not affect Benton County. The offices will not have to get vaccinated or require the testing.

A short lunch break was had before the Department of Human Services presented their budget request for next year.
