The library board was recently notified of the resignation of Interim Director Colton Neely. Colton's last day will be July 8th. As a result of this resignation and the lack of a full-time staff member, the board has made the decision to close the library for the week of July 11th.

During this week no programming will occur and the board will look at options for opening the library for limited hours and services for the period of time until a new Library Director is able to be hired. The library will still be accepting materials to be returned but materials to be checked out will not happen for at least the week of July 11th.

We thank the community for your patience as we work to hire new staff and develop a plan to continue to provide needed services to the community.

On behalf of the Library Board,

Jimmy Kelly.

LR July 7, 2022, 4:41 pm We had a gift in these experienced and motivated leaders. We squandered it. And what for? This is what hate and fear does. Hate drives people away and separates us. Fear closes doors and builds walls. It is an absolute shame and a red mark on our beautiful community.
TB July 7, 2022, 5:08 pm Maybe the award winning library director that we were lucky to have shouldn't have been run off..
OS July 9, 2022, 10:03 am Well, I guess we don't have to worry about that "liberal agenda" taking over Vinton now. Thanks Fox news and the media for whipping up fear of a non-existing problem. The real problem we have now is finding someone qualified to manage the library that doesn't mind being second guessed on their management at every turn.
