The Benton County Board of Supervisors met in regular session with Supervisors Seeman, Tippett and Volz present. Chairman Seeman called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. at the Benton County Service Center. Members of the public are invited to join in during open session or watch the livestream at https://www.youtube.com/bentoncountyiowa. Full Resolutions will be available in the Auditor’s office and at: www.bentoncountyia.gov
Volz moved/Tippett seconded: To approve the Agenda. Tippett, Seeman and Volz voting aye. Motion carried.
Tippett moved/Volz seconded: To approve the minutes from Tuesday, November 4, 2025. Tippett, Seeman and Volz voting aye. Motion carried.
Tippett moved/Volz seconded: To approve the following: 10/23/25 payroll checks numbered 143896 through 143904, ACH Deposits 63015 through 63175, payroll vendor checks 255463 through 255471, handwrite 255472, EMS Claims numbered 255473 through 255478. 11/6/2025 payroll checks numbered 143905 through 143910, ACH Deposits 63176 through 63335, payroll vendor checks 255479 through 255486 and claims 255487 through 255643. Tippett, Seeman and Volz voting aye. Motion carried.
Volz moved/Tippett seconded: To approve the application from Chic Fil A Food truck to use the courthouse grounds on Tuesday, November 11, 2025. Tippett, Seeman and Volz voting aye. Motion carried.
Volz moved/Tippett seconded: To approve Resolution #25-90, Word changes to sick leave policy section 4.3 in the Benton County Handbook to reflect that sick leave can be used in ¼ hour increments. Tippett, Seeman and Volz voting aye. Motion carried.
Benton County Engineer Myron Parizek discussed a speed limit request he received regarding 70th Street in Van Horne. The City reached out to him about the road on the east side of town where it has annexed some ground and has a few new houses. There is currently a 35 mph for traffic entering town and a 55 mph exiting town. The City has requested the county have it be 45 mph both ways. Parizek observed the traffic and added this is county right of way and has nothing to do with the city and has recommended going along with their request. The Board agreed and Parizek will bring back a resolution at a future meeting to take formal action on.
Tippett moved/Volz seconded: To acknowledge the resignation of Jamie Kane at Secondary Roads effective November 17, 2025. Tippett, Seeman and Volz voting aye. Motion carried.
Tippett moved/Volz seconded: To adjourn meeting at 9:23 a.m. Volz, Seeman and Tippett voting aye. Motion carried.
The Board had a FY 27 Budget Work session from 9:30-10:30 a.m.
