As we celebrate the holidays, we appreciate all the gifts that you have given throughout the year.With your support, ASAC has helped more than 12,000 youth and adults learn skills to help prevent substance use and gambling disorders, and lead others. We have partnered with educators, parents, helping professionals and employers to provide tools so that they can share learning about the hazards of substance use and problem gambling in their daily lives.
1. Join our Beds for Babies campaign by making a donation to support purchase of new cribs, car seats, high chairs and rockers for our babies and their Moms. We need sixteen – twenty-four sets for our residential treatment program for Moms. Make a one-time gift to support the purchase or let us know if you want to buy one of these items.2. Make giving a habit with a monthly gift to support prevention services delivered in the community and schools.

By Katie AkinIowa has cleared a backlog of thousands of sexual assault evidence kits, the Attorney General’s Office reported Tuesday, resulting in nearly 300 DNA matches and four criminal cases.The Iowa Sexual Assault Kit Initiative began in 2015 with the goal of testing a backlog of sexual assault evidence kits in the state. A survey conducted that year found over 4,000 kits collected before April 2015 had never been submitted for testing.
