UnityPoint Clinic Family Medicine Shellsburg will reopen early next year. The UnityPoint Clinic team was contacted by local contractor, Greg Peacock, with a plan to bring the clinic back to the community.

In May 2016, it was announced that after more than 15 years of providing care to patients in Shellsburg, the UnityPoint Clinic Family Medicine lease was abruptly terminated at its 400 Canton St., Suite B location. The clinic was forced to relocate to UnityPoint Clinic in Vinton, a location that was approximately 10 miles from Shellsburg.

The new Shellsburg clinic will be a new facility located at 131 Main Street, NW, Shellsburg, across the street from the USA Communications Building. A groundbreaking will be held next month and the tentative opening of the new Clinic is set for early 2017.

“Many residents in Shellsburg were disappointed UnityPoint Clinic was forced to relocate,” said Greg Peacock. “I am pleased to help build and bring back this vital resource to our community as the need is significant. We are happy to do our part in bringing it back to Shellsburg.”

“We are very excited to return the UnityPoint Clinic and Nurse Practitioner Julie Hoffmann to Shellsburg,” said Dr. John Roof, vice president and UnityPoint Clinic Cedar Rapids medical director. “We never wanted to leave the community and once Greg contacted us with a great solution we were thrilled to make the commitment to return.”

UnityPoint Clinic Family Medicine Shellsburg will lease the building from Peacock. Nurse Practitioner Julie Hoffmann will continue seeing patients at the UnityPoint Clinic in Vinton while the building is being constructed. Patients with any questions are asked to call the UnityPoint Clinic at (319) 436-2040.
