April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness, support survivors, and reaffirm our commitment to building safer communities across Iowa. For many survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, stalking, and human trafficking, safety can mean something as simple, and as critical, as keeping their home address confidential. That’s where our Safe at Home program can make a difference.

Safe at Home provides participants with a legal substitute address they can use, helping protect their real location from becoming public. It’s a free, confidential service designed to give survivors an added layer of security as they rebuild and move forward.

This year marks 10 years of the Safe at Home program in Iowa. Over the past decade, the program has supported more than 3,000 Iowans, providing an added layer of security, stability, and peace of mind during some of life’s most difficult moments.

This month, and every month, we encourage Iowans to learn more, share resources, and support those in need. If you or someone you know could benefit from Safe at Home, visit safeathome.iowa.gov to learn more or apply.
