News : Pelicans briefly stop near Vinton; dozens seen along Cedar River

Pelicans have captured the attention of many residents near Vinton Wednesday morning.

Several area residents have been pausing as they cross the Cedar River bridge, looking west at the big white objects along the river bank.

Pelicans have stopped near Vinton.

Dozens of the big birds were seen swimming in or sitting on a fallen tree near the river this morning. A few residents drove to the river access area to get a better view. But high water made it difficult to get an unobstructed view of the birds.
