The fun is about to begin!  Starting at 7:00 on Saturday morning, people who love Vinton, gathered to start shucking corn for the day's event.

Meeting behind the high school a group of volunteers started the task, at times in the rain, to begin the preparing about 4,000 ears of corn.

Sweetcorn Days is not a new idea to Vinton. As a throwback to a time when this was an annual event, Vinton's Sesquicentennial committee planned it once again as a throwback to that era and as a treat for those that may have never experienced it.

The corn was served next to Michael and Dowd's on the site of the former Clingman building.
