Lutheran Services in Iowa (LSI) was recently awarded $5,000 from the Benton County Community Foundation to support Healthy Families America programming in Benton County. LSI Early Childhood Services are an affiliate of Healthy Families America (HFA), the nationally-recognized, evidence-based home visiting program of Prevent Child Abuse America.

HFA focuses on building nurturing, safe, and secure relationships between parents and children to maximize opportunities for all children - and parents - to reach their full potential. Families are connected with an LSI Family Support Specialist, who provides in-home parenting education, resources, and guidance for raising their child in a safe, loving home. The program serves families from pregnancy until their child is five years old and is provided at no cost to families.

"We appreciate this support from the Benton County Community Foundation," said Nancy Krause, Director of LSI Early Childhood Services. "This funding allows LSI to provide crucial in-home care, guidance, and encouragement for Iowa parents and their young children."

LSI is one of Iowa's largest human services agencies and impacts thousands of Iowans annually through child abuse prevention, services for families and youth in crisis, services for people with disabilities, and refugee services. LSI is nationally accredited and proudly serves people of all ages, abilities, religions, sexes, gender identities, national origins, ethnicities, races, and sexual orientations.
