A few weeks ago we shared a story about an injured eagle that was captured on the Gary and Jill Marlow property north of Vinton. The Iowa State Conservation Officer for Benton County, a branch of the Department of Natural Resources, Pat Jorgensen assisted the bird was able to get the bird rehabilitated at RARE, an organization that helps with injured animals. The bird has healed and was released back into the wild.

The bird had bruising in his left wing, which has now gone down now and the bird was treated with some fluids for its dehydration. "The folks at RARE gave the Eagle fluids and allowed him to rest his wings for about a week. He was able to exercise his wings in a flight pen used to allow birds to fly in and build up their strength.," said Jorgensen. "A week ago Friday I received a call that the Eagle was ready to be released." Jorgensen met with the Marlows along with their 2 grandchildren at their residence and the bird was successfully released.

As soon as the box it was being transported in was opened, the bird was able to fly off back to its favorite perch.
