This year the Vinton Kiwanis and Lions Clubs welcomed the new teachers who will begin teaching at the Vinton Shellsburg School District.

Keith Ervin opened the meeting with the pledge of allegiance and the singing of God bless America. Denny Gardemann of the Vinton Kiwanis Club and Dennis Lasaur of the Vinton Lions Club each welcomed the group to the luncheon.

Kyle Koeppen spoke briefly before introducing the new educators. Vinton Shellsburg has updated its mission statement to be positive difference makers. Koeppen then presented all of the teachers to the group of around 75 people at Thursday's luncheon held at the Vinton Country Club. The teachers introduced themselves and shared which class that they would be teaching. Three of the teachers have a special relationship with the district. The three, Miranda Hartkemeyer, Katie Isbell, and Daisy Johnson might sound familiar to some of you. The three are former graduates of the Vinton-Shellsburg School District and will be joining the Vinton-Shellsburg School District for the first time as a member of the staff.
