January 21, 2022, at around 3:38AM a delivery person called the Benton County Sheriff's Office to report that a business had been broken into and people were still inside or on the property.

Vinton Police Officers responded to a burglary in progress at John's Qwik Stop at 804 C Avenue. After arriving on scene, Officers determined that entry was gained through the drive through window located on the north side of the building. Both suspects possessed and undetermined amount of cash and merchandise on their persons belonging to John's Qwik Stop. The below suspects were quickly appended by responding officers and charged with the following.

Cameron Jordan Hoffpauir, 18, of Cedar Rapids, IA was charged with Burglary 3rd, Theft 2nd , and Criminal Mischief 2nd .

A 17-year-old female juvenile, of Vinton, IA was charged with Burglary 3rd and Theft 2nd, and Criminal Mischief 2 nd .

Burglary 3rd is a Class "D" Felony which carries a maximum of Five years confinement and a fine no less than $750.00 and no more than $7,500.00.

Theft 2nd is a Class "D" Felony which carries a maximum of Five years confinement and a fine no less than $750.00 and no more than $7,500.00.

Criminal Mischief 2nd is a Class "D" Felony which carries a maximum of Five years confinement and a fine no less than $750.00 and no more than $7,500.00.
