January 22, 2022, at around 04:38AM, John's Qwik Stop called the Benton County Sheriff's Office to report that the business had been broken into again and no one was inside at the time of the report.

Vinton Police Officers responded to the burglary at John's Qwik Stop at 804 C Avenue. Officers determined that entry was gained again through the drive through window located on the north side of the building after damaging the back door, in an attempt to gain entry. On the security cameras a male and a female could be observed taking money from the registers and merchandise from the behind the counter. Officers were able to locate the suspects a female juvenile and an adult male identified as Cameron Hoffpauir inside of their residence. Both had been involved in the burglary at John's Qwik Stop the previous day on the 21st. Cameron Hoffpauir had been released from jail pending trial on three Class D Felonies. Officers found an undetermined amount of money and a large amount of merchandise in the residence.

Cameron Jordan Hoffpauir, 18, of Cedar Rapids, IA was charged with Burglary 3rd, Theft 2nd, Criminal Mischief 2nd, and Trespass. Hoffpauir was placed under arrest and transported to the Benton County jail.

A 17 year old female juvenile, of Vinton, IA was charged with Burglary 3rd and Theft 2nd, and Criminal Mischief 2nd, Interference with Official Acts, and Trespass. The female juvenile was transported to Central Iowa Juvenile Detention Center in Eldora, Iowa.

Burglary 3rd is a Class "D" Felony which carries a maximum of Five years confinement and a fine no less than $750.00 and no more than $7,500.00.

Theft 2nd is a Class "D" Felony which carries a maximum of Five years confinement and a fine no less than $750.00 and no more than $7,500.00.

Criminal Mischief 2nd is a Class "D" Felony which carries a maximum of Five years confinement and a fine no less than $750.00 and no more than $7,500.00.

Trespass - with damage greater than $300 is a Serious Misdemeanor, and not to exceed one year confinement and/or no less than $430 and no more than $2,560.00.

Interference with Official Acts is a Simple Misdemeanor, and not to exceed thirty days confinement and/or a fine of no less than $105 and no more than $850
