AmeriCorps NCCC team Maple 4 is currently working at the local Hummel shelter with the Vinton Parks and Recreation Department. The shelter is a popular location for family reunions, parties and summer camp activities. Maple 4 is completely giving this shelter a brand new look for the summer. The team started off with power washing the interior and exterior before painting the inside. The picnic tables were also removed from the shelter to be painted. The majority of the shelter is now finished just in time for the summer festivities that start next week!
You can spot Maple 4 working daily with the VPRD around Riverside Park as the next project they will be working on will be repainting and staining the community band shell. The team is eager to see the use of these facilities in full action this summer.
