Congratulations to our own Kelly Steffen, high school social studies teacher, on being selected as a 2026 Alexander Fellow through Vanderbilt University’s Lamar Alexander Initiative!
This highly selective, national program brings together outstanding educators from across the country with a mission to strengthen the teaching of American history and civics in high schools. Kelly is one of just 30 teachers selected from across the United States to participate in this prestigious fellowship.
As part of the experience, Kelly will take part in a summer residency in Nashville, learning from leading historians, educators, and policy experts. The program continues throughout the school year with ongoing collaboration, coaching, and the development of high quality instructional practices that can be brought directly back to the classroom.
The Lamar Alexander Initiative is focused on creating meaningful, engaging history instruction that helps students better understand our nation’s past and their role in its future. We are excited for the impact this opportunity will have not only on Kelly’s professional growth, but also on the learning experiences of our students.
Please join us in congratulating Kelly on this incredible and well deserved recognition!
