Judy Ann (Meyer) Pieper, age 68, passed away on Friday, September 24, 2021, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City after a courageous battle with cancer and with her loving family at her side.

A memorial visitation will be held from 3:00 until 6:00 PM on the 29th day of September 2021 at Phillips Funeral Home in Keystone. Private family interment will be held at the Keystone Cemetery.

Judy was born on October 17, 1952, in Belle Plaine, the daughter of John and Darlene (Wiese) Meyer. She grew up on the family farm north of Keystone. Judy graduated from Benton Community High in 1970 and from the University of Iowa with a BA in Elementary Education in 1983. On June 16, 1984, she was united in marriage to Daniel Pieper in Van Horne. Judy was an elementary teacher at Keystone Elementary until her retirement in 2012.

Judy was passionate about teaching and impacted many of her student's lives. She taught third grade, followed by the fifth grade, and enjoyed leading the student council. Judy was a very loving and caring mother, sister, grandmother, and aunt. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her children, grandchildren, and family. Judy would occasionally visit casinos to play slots in an attempt to "win big", which she did a few times. She enjoyed going on recent trips to Los Angeles to visit her nephew Erik Plaht, Disneyworld with her daughter and grandchildren, and most recently with her family to Maui (to fulfill a bucket list item).

She is survived by her husband Daniel of Cedar Rapids; children, Ashley Pieper of Tiffin, Austin Pieper of Cedar Rapids; 3 grandchildren, Scarlett, Ryder and Maleah; her brother-in-law Tom Plaht of Solon; her sister Linda Ebert of Newhall; her brother John (Jan) Meyer of Keystone; and eight beloved nieces and nephews.

She was proceeded in death by her parents; son Aaron in infancy; and her sister Kathy Plaht.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Judy's honor has been established.
