Mary Kathryn (Martin) Oberreuter, age 56, died unexpectedly at her rural Marengo home on her birthday, Wednesday, December 8, 2021,

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at St. John's Catholic Church in Blairstown, with Rev. Craig Steimel as Celebrant. Visitation will be held from 4:00 until 7:00 PM, Monday, at the Church. A memorial fund has been established.

Mary was born, on December 8, 1965 at Marengo Hospital, the daughter of William "Bill" and Joan (Traut) Martin. She graduated from Iowa Valley High School with the class of 1984, and the University of Northern Iowa with a B.A. in Communications. On September 10, 2005, she was united in marriage to Kevin Oberreuter at St. John's Catholic Church in Blairstown

Mary loved adventures and traveled to Germany while in high school and international studies for a semester in Austria while at UNI. Her Catholic faith and her church were very important to her, and she was proud to have traveled on a pilgrimage to Medjugorje in Bosnia and Herzegoninia. Mary had worked at Alliant Energy, Discovery Living, and the State of Iowa.

She is survived by her husband Kevin; parents, Bill and Joan Martin of Shellsburg; sister, Teresa (Monte) Clayton of Urbandale; brothers, Larry Martin of Hiawatha, Michael (Jane) Martin of Shellsburg; niece, Mary (Whitney) Buchman; nephews, Michael Clayton, Austin, Jordan, and Conner Martin; and her father-in-law Robert Oberreuter.

She was preceded in death by her mother-in-law Bernadine Oberreuter.

CF December 12, 2021, 8:52 pm I was so saddened to hear you lost sweet Mary. Mary was a dedicated hard working employee and friend. She had such great faith and I hope this brings comfort to you knowing she is with our savior now. I will always cherish my memories of her. Rest In Peace Mary.
