Travis James Rieck, 38, of Palo, Iowa, passed away at UnityPoint-St. Luke's Hospital on Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.

A visitation will be held at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home on Monday, Jan. 17, 2022, from 4 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the New Covenant Bible Church on Tuesday, Jan. 18, at 1:30 p.m. with pastors Jay Haugh and Mark Forstrom officiating. Interment to follow at the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A reception for Travis will be held at the Palo Community Center following the interment

Travis was born on July 5, 1983, in Dubuque, Iowa. He was the son of Karen E. Rieck and the late Gary Wayne Rieck. On Feb. 21, 2009, Travis married the love of his life, Nicole Harris, in Van Horne, Iowa. Travis was a member of the Palo City Council for several years and always gave everything he had to the city of Palo, the town that he loved, especially helping the city rebuild after the derecho. He was an avid fan of the outdoors and he especially enjoyed camping. He was an Eagle Scout. He was a big St. Louis Cardinals and Iowa Hawkeyes fan. He enjoyed repairing small engines, and loved baseball, especially coaching his sons' Little League teams. Travis loved woodworking and spending time with his family. Travis served as a mentor to so many people throughout his life. He loved meeting people and would do anything for anybody whenever he could. The Lord gave Travis the gift of repairing anything that needed to be fixed and anything that no one else could fix.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Nicole of Palo, Iowa; his children, Mason James Rieck, Preston Wayne Rieck and Ravon Jade Rieck; his mother, Karen E. Rieck of Marion, Iowa; his brother, Jared K. Rieck of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and his sister, Megan L. Rieck of Carbondale, Ill. numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, as well as nieces and nephews. Travis was preceded in death by his father, Gary; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to an educational scholarship for his children.
