John Robert Yock, 75, of Shellsburg died Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at Heritage Specialty Care.

Service: 11 a.m., Monday at Teahen Funeral Home, located at 3100 F Ave. NW.,Cedar Rapids by Penny Ackerman.

Burial: Dayton Valley Cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family from 10 to 11 a.m., at the funeral home. Due to concerns over the novel coronavirus, it is suggested that family members and friends wear a mask to any funeral event.

John is survived by his son, Todd (Melissa) Yock of Toddville; daughter, Tami (Pete) Richardt of Walford; four grandchildren, Danielle, Sydney, Noah, and Brandon; great-granddaughter, Grace; and great-grandson, Landon; brothers, Francis Yock of Cedar Rapids and Kenneth (Dianna) Yock of Quincy, IL; sisters, Sharon Stewart of Marion and Barbara Hamer of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Elaine; and his parents.

John was born on April 25, 1946 in Clarence, son of Robert and Lois Workman Yock. He was a Navy veteran and served during the Vietnam War from 1966 to1969. On January 15, 1966 he married Elaine Chapman in Clarence. John worked as a field service tech for Cherry Burrell/Waukesha Fluid Handling for many years. He was a member of the Shellsburg American Legion.

John was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed spending time at their cabin in northeast Iowa with Elaine. He loved spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren and will be deeply missed.
