Cecil "Buck" McClung, 61, of Vinton died Monday, April 25, 2022 at St. Luke's Hospital. Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 29, 2022, Van Steenhuyse-Teahen Funeral Home by Elder Lori McClung. Burial: Evergreen Cemetery,Vinton. Visitation: 4:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, April 28, 2022 at the funeral home.

Buck is survived by his wife, Rhonda; two sons: Bart (Niki) Bruce and Cecil McClung; three daughters: Cody Bruce, Rose McClung and Jessica (Ben) Merino; nine grandchildren: Tyler and Bryce Rasmussen, Baylee, Brylee and Brady Bruce, Cecil "CJ", Jonathan and Lucie McClung and Maximus Merino; mother, Edna McClung of New Bern, NC; three sisters: Ruby (Jim) Scheer, New Bern, NC, Sally (Rex) Kerr, Marion, AR and Irene McClung, West Memphis, AR; brother, Eddie (Lori) McClung, Taylorville, IL.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Buck was preceded in death by his father, Cecil; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Dwight Mitchell; father-in-law, Richard Fisher; and sister-in-law, Tina McClung.

Buck was born on May 3, 1960, in Albuquerque, NM, the son of Cecil and Edna (Hawkinson) McClung. He graduated from Deming High School, Deming, NM in 1978. On July 24, 1993, Buck married the love of his life, Rhonda Fisher Bruce, in Vinton. Buck was employed by Fed Ex for 30+ years.

In his leisure time, Buck enjoyed NASCAR, being a cowboy and participating in team roping, boating, music trivia, weekend drives and telling stories about his childhood. Spending time with family was important to Buck, but being a grandpa was the most special role he had.

A memorial fund has been established.
