Steven Charles Schwab, 72, of Belle Plaine, Iowa passed away May 13, 2022 at his home surrounded by family.

Steven was born May 3, 1950 in Belle Plaine, IA to Charles Henry and Gladys Mary (Hoyt) Schwab following the passing of his mother he was raised by his father and step-mother, Dorothy (Kramer) Schwab. Steve graduated from Belle Plaine High School the class of 1968. Following school he worked as a mechanic, was a welder for P&H Cranes, built grain bins was, a transportation supervisor for Car Quest, and drove truck for ADM, which he retired after ten plus years of service. October 3, 1987 Steven married Sharon Kay Carter together they lived in Belle Plaine.

In his youth Steve could be found bowling and playing coed volleyball. Steve was a jokester, with a good since of humor. He enjoyed tinkering, fishing, spending time on his pontoon and working in the garden with Sharon. Steve loved spending time with his family and friends and teaching his children and family the things he knew.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Kay Schwab of Belle Plaine; sons, Chad (Lindsay) Schwab of Wheatland, IA, Jamie (Lori) Schwab of Corydon, IA, Jeff (Vicky) Schwab of Cedar Rapids, IA, Rod (Judy) Long of Toledo, IA; daughters, Christie (Trevor) Hawkins of Belle Plaine, Theresa Long of Charles City, IA; 19 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; brothers, Jim (Wendy) Schwab, Dennis (Vicki) Schwab; sisters, Chris (Dennis) DeVore, Judy (Jerry) Sexton; and many more loving family and friends.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother; daughter, Heather Lukes; sister, Sandra Stout; brother-in-law, Donn Kramer.

Funeral service is 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at Hrabak-Neuhaus Funeral Service of Belle Plaine with Pastor Charles Johnson officiating. Burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery, Belle Plaine.

Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.neuhausfuneralservice.com.
