A celebration of Blake's life will be held from 2:00 until 4:00 PM, Saturday, June 25, 2022 at the Phillips Funeral Home Chapel (212 E. 6th Street) in Vinton. Interment will be held at Maplewood Cemetery in Vinton.
Blake was born on December 4, 1969, to William and Lois (Hartrampf) Benson in Vinton, Iowa, Blake worked as a carpenter prior to his illness. He enjoyed NASCAR (watch the beginning, take a nap, and wake to see the finish). He enjoyed watching Basketball and Football and was a Tennessee Titan fan. He was a Ford man and enjoyed working on cars, and was a skilled handyman. Playing softball, bowling and spending time with his friends and beloved four-legged friend Sammy were also favorite past times. He also loved to travel to Colorado.
He is survived by his brothers, Jason Benson of Tipton, Eric Benson of Cedar Rapids; sisters, Cindy Blackburn of Vinton, Lacey (Dan) Mason of Kellogg, IA, Sally Ann Benson of Vinton; step-daughter, Sayde Malcuit of Cedar Rapids; nieces, Samantha Benson, Heather Benson; nephew Blaine Blackburn; and his close friend, Janelle Solberg.
Blake was preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-law Vicki Benson; and brother-in-law Charlie Blackburn.
