Obituaries : Jerald “Jerry” Lee Timm

Jerald "Jerry" Lee Timm, 85 of Belle Plaine, IA passed away October 5, 2022 at Compass Memorial Healthcare, Marengo, IA with his family by his side.

Jerry was born May 3, 1937 in Grinnell, IA the son of Ernest Carl and Dorothy Louise (Morrison) Timm. He was raised on a farm north of Ladora and graduated from Victor High School. Following high school Jerry moved to North East Oregon, where he met the love of his life, Bess Collins. They married August 17, 1958 in La Grande, Oregon. Together, they moved to Iowa where they purchased a farm in rural Victor and raised their family. Following retirement from his life on the farm they moved to Belle Plaine.

Jerry and Bess enjoyed fifth wheel traveling to Oregon. He was a self-taught fiddler, and he played with the Mountain Old Time Fiddlers when he visited Oregon. Jerry enjoyed playing cards and making music with his family. He loved spending time with his family and friends and sharing his great sense of humor with all that knew him.

Jerry was a regular at the Interstate Pilot for coffee with "the fellas" in the mornings, a group of old neighbors and friends that were always there for each other.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Bess Timm of Belle Plaine; children, Tamera Zogg of Gilman, IA, Christy (Chris) Timm Hughes of Arden Hills, MN, Laure (Shawn) Schwartz of St. Paul, MN; grandchildren, Robert, Jamie, Charles, Abby, Claire, Renee; seven great-grandchildren; brother, James (Gwenda) Timm, Ladora; sister, Julie (Dave) Read, Ladora; and many more loving family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Don Timm.

The memorial service is 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 8, 2022 at the First Lutheran Church, Belle Plaine with Pastor Dean Duncan officiating. Private family burial will be at Koszta Cemetery, Koszta, IA.
