Bonnie Carole (Barnard) Fennern, age 85, passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at her home in Vinton with her family by her side.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 14, 2023 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Vinton, with Rev. Stephen Preus officiating. Luncheon will follow the funeral service. Interment will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday at Cedar Memorial Cemetery in Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be held from 4:00 until 8:00 PM, Friday at the Phillips Funeral Home (212 E.6th Street) in Vinton. A memorial fund has been established.

Bonnie was born on September 30, 1937 at her grandmother's farm near Walker IA, the daughter of Ralph and Flora (Tharp) Barnard. On October 13, 1962, she was united in marriage to Deane Fennern in Unionville, MO.

Bonnie attended Roosevelt High School in Cedar Rapids, and worked for many years at Collins Radio, later Rockwell-Collins and at Norand, retiring in 1988. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Vinton, the Jefferson Booster Club, and the Roosevelt High Alumni Group. Bonnie's family members were her greatest joy, along with the Iowa Hawkeyes. She was also very creative, and loved to crochet for friends, family, and church members. Bonnie enjoyed crocheting Christmas ornaments and making doll clothes for her granddaughters.

She is survived by her husband Deane of Vinton; son, James (Victoria) Fennern Sr., of Cedar Rapids; daughter, Dawn (Ken) Beyer of Epworth; 5 grandchildren, James Fennern Jr., Anne Nicholson, Erica (Timothy) Collins, Shelby Beyer, Shaun Beyer; 6 great-grandchildren; and many special nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Johnny Pyle; grandson, Timothy Walter Fennern; 2 brothers, Orval Barnard, Roger Barnard; and 2 sisters, Rose Pavek, and Patricia Daugherty.
