Jerald "Jake" L. Nekola, 67, of Elberon, IA passed away after a courageous 7-year battle with cancer, February 23, 2023 at the Oldorf Hospice House, Hiawatha, IA.
Jerald was born October 12, 1955 to Edward and June (Dolash) Nekola in Marshalltown, IA. He worked for 4 County Co-op/Heartland Co-op.
Jake enjoyed helping others mowing, shoveling, he was a hard worker and shared his work ethic with others. Even in retirement he would go back to Heartland to do odds and ends.
He is survived by his wife, Pat Carroll of Elberon; daughter, Jodi (Matt) Hacker of Atkins; grandchildren, Joel, Grant, and Alexis Hacker; siblings, Edward (Linda) Nekola of Cedar Rapids, Ronald (Shirley) Nekola of Jesup, Diane Hoover of Linn, MO, Linda (Jerry) Fintel of Cedar Rapids and several more family and friends.
Jake is preceded in death by his parents, and first wife Kathy Nekola
A celebration of life will take place from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 11, 2023 at the CSA Hall in Vining, IA with private burial at Stayskal Cemetery, Chelsea.
