Danny James Hughes, 20, a student at Iowa Central Community College in Ft. Dodge, formerly of Vinton, passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, in Ft. Dodge.
A Celebration of Danny's life will be held from 2:00 until 5:00 PM, Saturday, October 26, 2024, at the Phillips Funeral Home Chapel (212 E. 6th Street) in Vinton. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Daniel James Hughes was born on August 24, 2004, in Chicago to Derron Hughes and Supreme Franky. Danny graduated from Vinton-Shellsburg High School, with the class of 2022. While in High School, he was a member of the Vinton-Shellsburg Voyagers Dance Team. Danny was furthering his studies at Kirkwood Community College and currently Iowa Central Community College, majoring in business. He also danced with the Kirkwood and Iowa Central Dance Teams.
Daniel James Hughes is a brother, a son, a friend, a cousin, a soon-to-be uncle, and so much more. He loved dancing ever since he was little and made it his passion and life's work to pursue a career in the dancing arts. Every room he walked into, he filled with light, wit, and plenty of attitude, and oh, couldn't forget sarcasm. He always knew he was loved and loved his family and friends. He was a proud Eagle at Kirkwood Community College, and currently Triton at Iowa Central Community College on a scholarship for dance. He was happy doing what he loved with people he had come to love (Triton Dance Team). He would want to dance with his favorite companion, Tank. Tank was his best friend in dog form, who also struck us by his loss just last year. They are together now. Forever dancing.
Danny is survived by his parents, Derron Hughes of Vinton, Supreme Franky of Garrison; stepfather, Sanford Boulden of Des Moines; his siblings, Derron Hughes of Vinton, Josiah Gamby of Vinton Daijah Hughes of Garrison, Amera Hegarty of Urbandale Derius Hughes of Vinton; his great-grandmother, Carmen Hodge of London, KY; and his God parents, Adrian, and Dewitt Martin of Gary, IN.
He was preceded in death by his brother, O'Hajii Gray; paternal grandparents, Carrie, and James Alexander; and maternal grandparents, Sharon Franky, and Rondell Courts.
