Mary Lee (Kenney) Vogt, 83, died Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at her son's home in rural Garrison.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, August 28, 2025 at the Phillips Funeral Home Chapel (212 E. 6thStreet) in Vinton, with Rev. Dean Bostian officiating. Interment will be held at the Garrison Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 9:00 AM until service time on Thursday, also at the funeral home. A luncheon will be held at the Garrison Fire Station, following the interment.
Mary was born in Vinton, the daughter of Lewis and Leta Mae (Rogers) Kenney on May 16, 1942. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Vinton with the class of 1960.
Mary worked for the United States Postal Service most of her career. She served as postmaster in Garrison and later Urbana, and was also employed at the Cedar Rapids facility.
She was a member of the Garrison Fireman's Auxiliary. Mary loved to cook for her family and loved spending time with them, especially time on the water fishing. She was also an avid shopper.
Mary is survived by her two children, Shelly (Randy) Williams and Bret (Cora) Flickinger, both of Garrison; Grandchildren, Brent (Jenni) Flickinger and Garrett (Erica) Flickinger; Great Grandchildren: Briggs, Brighton, Bond and Henry; honorary children, Jay (Anne), and Jim (Terri) and their families; and her brothers, Darrell (Janet) Kenney of Vinton and Dick (Joyce) Kenney of Vinton.
She was preceded in death by her parent, life partner Jerry Usher, great grandson, Banks Flickinger; brother Dean (Bev) Kenney; and sister LaVonne Kenney.

But she loved the river, I remember. But I grew up with her Jerry’s brother Kenny. With such a big family, they probably needed to fish for food for that big family.
