Beverly J. Hilner, age 96, passed away on Monday November 17, 2025 at Florence Nursing Home in Marengo, Illinois.
She was born on March 20, 1929 in Horton, Kansas to Charles S. and Dora M. (Turner) Snavely.
Beverly graduated from Whiting High School. business school.
After high school she attended a Beverly met Clarence Hilner in Lawrence, Kansas. They were married there on December 4, 1955.
She worked in banking for most of her career. She retired from The State Bank of Vinton. She started as a bookkeeper, became a teller and retired as a loan officer. While working at the bank she enjoyed visiting with customers and clerking auctions.
Beverly was an active member in the Vinton community. She and Clarence were long time members of the First Presbyterian Church. She was active with the Early Arts Club and the Benton County Historical Society, especially concerning the Horridge House.
Beverly and Clarence were avid collectors. They were members of the Midwest Sad Iron Collectors group. Among their many collections were sad irons, trivets, sprinkling bottles, thimbles, and bears. They also enjoyed attending Iowa basketball games. She enjoyed crocheting and gifted family and friends with many items she made.
Beverly will be greatly missed by her family. She is survived by her two daughters; Wanda (Dan) Holtz and Kay Harrison: her grandchildren, Janelle (Harry) Jablonski,
Brian (Denise) Holtz, Craig (Sara) Clime and Stephanie Harrison: great grandchildren, Megan Jablonski, Matt Jablonski, Michael Jablonski, Mark Jablonski, Zachary (Nina), Anna Holtz, Connor Clime, TJ Clime and one great great grandson, Roman Jablonski. She is also survived by two stepsons: Leroy (Mary) Hilner and Bruce (Janet) Hilner.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Evelyn P. Watson.
The memorial service for Beverly will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday December 13, 2025, at Christ United Methodist Church in Algonquin, Illinois. Interment will be in Horton, Kansas at a later date.
Memorials may be given in Beverly’s name to a charity of your choice.
