 Louise (Timmerman) Hansen age 87, of Starkville, MS, formerly of Newhall, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2025 surrounded by her loved ones. Louise has called many places home, notably Bowling Green, KY and Jackson, MS.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, December 19, 2025 at St. John Lutheran Cemetery in rural Newhall.

Born on September 9, 1938 in Grinnell, IA. Louise was the daughter of Walter and Elna Timmerman. She married Kenneth Hansen on November 3,1956 and together they moved all around the country and raised their family.

Louise is survived by four siblings, Caroline Boll (John), Marie Schwarting, Paul Timmerman (Mary Ann), and Martha Timmerman, four children, Valerie Hansen Wilson, Lori Penning (Kevin), Nick Hansen (Beth), and Heidi Lindsey (Kenneth), eleven grandchildren, Brittney Wilson (Nick), Bethany Mochal (Matthew), and Blaire Wilson, Michael Collins, Matthew Collins (Katelyn), Nicholas Penning, and Kent Penning, Bailey Hansen and Benjamin Hansen (Lindy), and Samantha Lindsey (Jose) and Elizabeth Lindsey, nine great-grandchildren, Thor and Wolfgang Rehnstrom, Emma, Arden and Sibyllah Mochal, Jocelynn Collins, Jamie Hansen, Joaquin and Noah Gonzalez.

Louise was a proud Iowa farm girl who attended Newhall High School in Newhall, IA and cherished the many reunions with her classmates from the Class of 1956.

Louise was a dedicated member of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Newhall, IA on April 6, 1952. She showed her love and care for God’s creation through her work with the 4H club and her regular giving to the national parks. She also safely shepherded many children as a school bus driver spanning over twelve years, in both Mississippi and Kentucky. Louise’s love of sewing is her best-known talent, producing hundreds of quilts for Lutheran World Relief over the years. Her legacy of quilting will continue through her daughters and granddaughters who learned from her the importance of a straight seam. 

Louise is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Hansen, her parents, Walter and Elna Timmerman, her brother, John Timmerman, her brother-in-law, Lloyd Schwarting, and three daughters, Sarah Hansen and two infant twin daughters. 

Louise came from a big family. The family would like to acknowledge the many surviving relatives that are not listed above including Louise’s sister-in-law, Eloise Timmerman.
