I served as a USAF Captain during the Vietnam era; we called it SEA (Southeast Asia Theater). I did not serve permanent party my main duty was Nuclear Alert (SAC) Strategic Air Command; I was a Squadron Copilot on KC-135 Boeing Stratotanker aircraft I was only there Temporary duty a short time. Those that served during that conflict were ground pounder (infantry), airmen or other personnel, were accused when they returned home successfully surviving their tour of duty as "baby killers" - hmmm. As an armed airman I was sent across the hostile fire line with a Smith and Wesson .38 cal. Revolver with 50 rounds of ammunition - which I never loaded and was never used against an armed NVA. However, as a participate in that conflict I was tattooed with the label of baby killer as were many infantry soldiers returning to "the world" individually and minus uniform they should have been proud to wear. So we have before us a conflict with the SCOUS about unrestricted abortion (Roe v Wade).
I must ask now --- who are the baby killers???---800,000 abortions due to Roe V Wade --- hmm!? These aborted human could have sustained life if carried to term and their life's accomplishment will never be known. Much different when during the time I served; Viennese children deprived of life by bullets or artillery during battle - most regrettable but under different circumstances. So now what? We need to do the right thing and protect life. Return to the individual states their right to make this determination.

Now I am guessing the SCOTUS will do just what you want them to do even though the majority of the country does not want Roe V Wade overturned. That is where this country is now. What the majority wants no longer matters.
The majority wants there to be enhanced background checks but the Republicans don't so they filibuster and the school shootings continue.
The majority of the country wants the voting rights bill or The John Lewis voting rights act to pass but Republicans don't so they filibuster because if those things pass they can't win.
Even though the Democrats have control of the House and Senate McConnell will use the filibuster on everything he doesn't want to pass. That is the sad state of our country.

I did not address exceptions. I should have gone back to what President William Clinton said "Abortion should be legal safe and RARE". A detected heart beat means it is not a tissue mass but a human that should be allowed to mature. It is interesting that those who favor unrestricted abortion are all ALIVE. I agree with Dr. Oz there may/should be exceptions. It would not be right to not save the mother if the pregnancy is life-threatening. I did not compare lives lost to war as lives lost to abortion. Gould did that.
I do not have young daughters any longer they are all adults and have had children of their own. I am Grandfather to 7 grandsons. I am proud of them all. If I had a young daughter pregnant outside of marriage - I would encourage taking the baby to term where a decision would be made to offer the baby for adoption or keep it.
Too many times critics are off the mark.
