Now, I'm not a coffee drinker. I'm barely a tea drinker. Water? Well, it's okay, and I should drink more. My beverage of choice is a cold glass of milk. THAT I will put in a wine glass, just because I can, and wine, eww. People keep saying to me, "You just haven't found the right one!" and I should tell them that I've not really tried too hard. Call me silly, but shouldn't it taste like the sparkling grape juice or something?

I'm also not a big fan of ice cream. Well, not the boring kinds of ice cream. Once in a while, I will splurge and get some gelato, but only because it comes in weird flavors. Now don't criticize, I like to try weird foods, at least once.

When offered a chance to try alligator, I was in. I mean, it's not like it's going to bite me or anything, and yes, it tastes like chicken. If there's a kind of fish I haven't tried, I'm in. I have yet to try ostrich or bison or anything else outside the typical midwesterner's diet of beef, pork, chicken and turkey.

Now veggies. The food group they say I should eat more of. Growing up as a meat and "taters " girl I had never tried Brussel sprouts until a few years ago.  I discovered that the teeny tiny cabbages were pretty tasty after all. Asparagus, I discovered a few years before that, and I like it too. I mean, hey, when you grow up with those taters most often, and of course, corn, peas, green beans, and carrots, well, the rest is just an adventure.

I've gotten waaay off track here.

I saw that the local A&W just started selling coffee-flavored ice cream. Now that piqued my interest. Coffee is okay in tiramisu, but in my ice cream? Well, that must be tested I thought.

So I pulled up on my way to a meeting and requested a small cone. I mean, if I DIDN'T like it, there's no sense in wasting more than a taste. The ice cream looked just like chocolate, so, "how can that be bad?" I thought.

It wasn't. In fact, it was a bit addicting. The next day I drove by again, and yanked the wheel making a hard left into the drive up on my way to yet another meeting. "One small coffee cone, please," I said. Now I knew that I had to order a small because, well, these things have become addicting.

I don't know why. I'm not sure if it's just because it's NOT chocolate OR vanilla. It's not even the sweet candy flavors or fake fruit flavors one can find, but this, well,  it's different. I think I know what it really is, it's the subliminal message that crossed my computer about the new cones. Now I have to have one.

Today I thought, "Hmmm...now if they could get coffee inside the ice cream, a sort of caffeinated shooter, I might start liking coffee."

But really, I thought, "It's the little things, like an ice cream cone, of a different flavor" that jerks me out of my to-do list for the day. Not for too long, but just long enough to enjoy the last drop of my newfound favorite ice cream flavor, coffee.

Who knew?
