Part of my job is filtering the emails that I get. One of those is a list of recalls. Each notice includes which states products were released. If I recognize the company, I'll usually share that information. Except when it comes to salad.

I noticed that I had several recalls come in last week for varieties of salad mixes. The salads contained listeria. That's bad. That's awful. The salades were distributed in Iowa. However, the salads expired last December, more than 2 months ago.

Now I have a LOT of experience with fruits and vegetables. Well, when it comes to buying them, forgetting them, and then pitching them. I know that salad 2 months old has already broken down into a liquid, so I really doubt anyone will be eating it if it's still in the fridge.

Now maybe I should still run these recalls in case someone decides to dig it out for a smoothie or something. I'm not really sure what the purpose is in notifying me that there is now a recall on something that is now rotten, but notify me they do.

So just in case, if you have any rotten bags of salad in the fridge that expired in December, DON'T EAT it! It could make you sick.
