Dear Friends and Readers,
The election is over and the work has begun. The transition from one elected official to another is always challenging and it ¢â‚¬â„¢s impossible to measure the stress of those individuals working in the office. I am pleased to share that I have had discussions with Dave Thompson and they have all been positive and directed to create the smoothest transition possible.
As I look back at the last six months, there is no doubt that there exists a distinct divide in our community, politically and philosophically. It is my hope that through my work over the next four years I can bring people together. When we can all work together, we get better results. Over the last three days, I have reflected on the amazing support I received during the campaign. Thank you to each and everyone who supported me.
Over the next four years, I want to bring safety and security to our communities. When we do that, everybody wins. Over the next few months, I will have to make some hard decisions, some of which may not be popular. Those decisions won ¢â‚¬â„¢t be what ¢â‚¬â„¢s best for me, but what ¢â‚¬â„¢s best for everyone. Please keep in mind that these next couple of months will be demanding for me, so, if I don ¢â‚¬â„¢t return your call right away, be patient, I will.
One of my goals is to make the office of the county attorney as transparent and responsive to victims as I possibly can. I want people in this community to know I care about them. At the same time, we have to remove those people who present a danger to society, or simply can ¢â‚¬â„¢t, or won ¢â‚¬â„¢t, follow the rules of society. With hard work and a great team, I can accomplish these goals.
Finally, I can ¢â‚¬â„¢t tell you enough just how humbled and appreciative of your support I am. Now, it ¢â‚¬â„¢s time to go to work.
Ray Lough
