To the Editor;
Respect
I remember the time when Republicans and Trump supporters were indignant that President Biden looked at his watch while receiving the bodies of service men and women at Dover Air Force Base. Off with his head, how disrespectful that he would look at his watch, what a no good…..
Four American service members were killed in an accident in Lithuania. It took several days to find the bodies because they were underwater in a swamp. On Thursday, Lithuanian government officials and the public held a dignified ceremony to honor the dead before sending the bodies back to the US. A foreign country gave more respect to America’s dead than our own President.
Where was our Commander in Chief who has not said one word about this tragedy? When the bodies of the servicemen arrived on American soil at Dover Air Force Base, Trump was riding around in a golf cart with son Eric, at Trump’s Doral Golf Club in Florida attending a golf tournament. After all nothing is more important than golf.
If Biden was condemned for looking at his watch as disrespectful, shouldn’t Trump supporters at least chastise Trump for proving once again that he has only disdain for the military and for those who have sacrificed their lives for this country? Trump has stated before that he doesn’t get why people risk their lives for our country when there is nothing it in for them and are suckers and losers for serving. At least, Biden was there.
But there will be no condemnation from Trump supporters. No shouts of how disrespectful he is because whatever he does is ok and above reproach. Just blatant hypocrisy and blind admiration for man who thinks more of a golf tournament than of fallen service members. Trump supporters, you are something else.
