Dear Editor,
This is a short rundown of a few of Trump’s activity this past week in no particular order.
1. The Defense Department granted Trump his wish to obtain though the country of Qater a “free” $400 million decked out jet that Qater had been trying to sell for over 5 years. The monstrosity is 13 years old, expensive to operate and the Qater government was waiting for some fool to accept this gift—enter Trump. It is estimated to cost upwards of $1 billion to retrofit to be used as Air Force One.
The kicker here is that when Trump leaves office, the jet will go to Trump’s Presidential Library for his personal use. So, in essence the U.S. is stuck with a gigantic retrofitting bill of close to $1 billion taxpayer dollars and will probably take most of Trump’s remaining term to complete just to have the plane de-retrofitted back to a private aircraft at probably taxpayer costs or the retrofitting will deliberately take too long to get it ready that it will be updated only for Trump’s personal use. Does anyone see a problem with this financial boondoggle bribe?
2. Friday, Trump started the holiday weekend off with more tariffs. Just had to be sure he messed with the stock and bond markets another time. He has suggested a 50% new tariff on the European Union and a 25% tariff on Apple on June 1st. I think the Apple tariff may be the first one that our government extends to a private company. But why not?

3. Trump ambushed the President of South Africa in the Oval Office at the behest of his buddy South African Elon Musk. This was a very inappropriate meeting where before the private meeting took place, Trump decided to accuse the South African government of the genocide of white Afrikaner farmers complete with a video and printed materials. Not only was this escapade an embarrassment to our country but the materials presented has proven to be inaccurate.
This is second time Trump has ambushed and publicly humiliated. the head of a country. Earlier this year, President Zelensky of the Ukraine was given the same treatment. Our country used to be respected and an Oval Office visit by another country’s leader was regarded as a privilege and honor. That has now gone out the window to be replaced by an embarrassing ambush in public catering to Trump and his administration trying to humiliate our allies. Way to go!
4. To round out the week, Trump hosted a gala dinner at one of the Trump properties for the top investors into the Trump memecoin. Another event enriching himself by using the platform of the Presidency was on the agenda. Trump doesn’t even hide his corruption. The Trump Organization, Don Jr., Eric, and Donald have made millions, probably billions making money off the Presidency. Kind of makes the complaints about President Biden and Hunter look really small now. Where are the concerns that our Presidency is being sold to highest bidders?
Just another week in Trump-land where corruption and impropriety are the goals.

P.S.
A couple weeks ago, GS couldn’t understand why many people have pointed out that Trump says some really strange things that calls into question his mental acuity, whether due to age or just plain nonsense. Saturday, Trump spoke at the West Point Graduation and gave an hour-long campaign speech airing his usual complaints instead of thoughtful and inspiring speech in honor of the graduates serving our country. Trump decided to dress for this solemn occasion with his Make America Great Again giant red cap. One particular strange rant we had heard before about was about Willaim Levitt. What this has to do with West Point graduates no one knows except to be wary of trophy wives which Trump knows something about.
Sage advice from Trump to West Point Graduates about William Levitt
"He (Levitt) sold this company and he had nothing to do," he told the future military leaders. "He ended up getting a divorce, found a new wife. Could you say a trophy wife? I guess we can say a trophy wife. It didn't work out too well, but it doesn't –– and that doesn't work out too well, I must tell you."
"A lot of trophy wives doesn't work out. But it made them happy for a little while at least," he continued. "But he found a new wife, he sold his little boat and he got a big yacht; he had one of the biggest yachts anywhere in the world. He moved for a time to Monte Carlo, and he led the good life. and time went by and he got bored and 15 years later, the company that he sold to called him and they said, 'The housing business is not for us.'"
GS-please explain what this story has to do with West Point graduates. How can they use this story on the battlefield to stay alive?
I will add that Trump left as soon as he could after his speech. President Biden not only gave a serious speech but stayed an hour after to shake the over 1,000 West Point graduates in 2024 which is tradition for any President except Trump who had to go golfing.
