Sports : Vinton 11U baseball team finishes third at State Tourney

The Vinton 11U team finished third in the State.

The 11U Vinton-Shellsburg Vikings brought home 3rd place this past weekend at the USSSA Class A State Championships. The 11U Vikings lost early on Friday but battled back in the 26 team tournament to make the semi-finals. The Vikings lost to the eventual state champs, the Washington Sledgehammers 9-1 in the semi-finals but went on to pound Bulltown Baseball 14-3 in the 3rd place game. The Vikings finished with a 4-2 record and outscored their opponents 66-34 during the tournament.
