Down by 8 after a first quarter Independence rally, the Vinton-Shellsburg Vikettes played the Mustangs even for the next three quarters, but could not overcome that early deficit. The Mustangs won, 44-36.

Freshman Anna Sagan led the Vikettes with 10 points. Bethany Stainbrook scored 8 and also led the Vikettes in rebounding with 5. VS travels to Clear Creek-Amana on Friday.
