Summit says pipeline system won’t be operational until 2026

By Jared Strong/Iowa Capital DispatchSummit Carbon Solutions has pushed back the estimated operational date of its sprawling carbon dioxide pipeline system by more than a year after permit setbacks in the Dakotas.The company initially indicated its five-state, 2000-mile system would be in operation sometime in 2024. It would transport captured carbon dioxide from ethanol plants for underground sequestration in North Dakota and has the potential to gain approval yet this year in Iowa.

IRFA Statement Regarding Navigator CO2 Carbon Capture Pipeline Project Cancelled

Today Navigator CO2 Ventures announced the cancellation of their proposed Heartland Greenway Project that was set to span across the Midwest. The project would have connected ethanol plants across several states and transported CO2 to underground sequestration sites, meeting goals for a low carbon future and boosting agriculture markets. In response to this announcement, Iowa Renewable Fuels Association Executive Director Monte Shaw made the following statement: “IRFA support CCS projects as the best way to align ethanol production with the increasing demand for low carbon fuels both at home and abroad.

Something better than the ice cream truck rolled in to VGH Nursing and Rehab

As a special thank you to the Virginia Gay Nursing and Rehab unit here in Vinton, Opal and Hazel's Woodfired Pizza stopped on Friday. The business delivered supper to the staff as a way of thanking the facility for the care given to Scott's dad, Jim Merchant. Jim passed away last May, and the family wanted to do something special to show their appreciation for all who helped Jim and his family during their time of loss.

Second Restaurant Closes in Vinton in 24 hours - The Old Hospital Pub

In less than 24 hours, a second announcement was made via a simple Facebook post, that the Old Hospital Pub announced has closed its doors. On Sunday a post went out that said, "We regret to announce today that the Pub is permanently closed. We've appreciated your support these last 2 years!The Pub will still be available to rent for private party space until further notice.

Chilango's Restaurant now closed

After five months of various struggles from the beginning, Chilangos Restaurant owner has decided to close the doors to the business. Michael Gonzales said that he wanted to thank the community for their support, and that he said that he has enjoyed his time here. He said that the community has been wonderful to work in and he has appreciated all of the support.
