Financial assistance may be available thru the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) to help producers implement practices such as cover crops, no-till, strip-till, grassed waterways, terraces, basins, and more. EQIP offers financial assistance to livestock producers to install pipelines, watering tanks, and wells used for livestock water as well as providing assistance to install interior fencing, rotationally graze, and improve your forage quantity and quality.
The Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) is a federal financial assistance program designed to help producers put conservation on the ground. There is no better time than now to evaluate your operation and obtain a conservation plan. Requests for conservation planning and applications for EQIP may be obtained at the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) office in Vinton. Applications are prioritized for funding using state, national, and locally developed ranking criteria and are accepted on a continuous basis. However, the first cutoff date for batching and ranking is Oct. 4, 2013. If interested, please call or stop by the Vinton Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) at 319-472-2161.
